Trekking to the Annapurna Sanctuary is one of the best trekking experience in Nepal.
The Annapurna Sanctuary is a mountain ringed glacier basin in the heart
of the Annapurna Range, surrounded by famous
Himalayan peaks such as Hiunchuli (6,441m), Annapurna South (7,219m),
Varaha Shikhar (7,847m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Gangapurna (7,485m),
Annapurna III (7,855m) and the 'fishtail' spire of Machhapuchhre (6,993m).
The only approach follows the Modi Khola valley passing through a variety
of environments, from steeply terraced lowland villages of the Gurung
people, through forests of bamboo, rhododendron and oak, and finally
up to the glaciers and high mountains. This is one of the most beautiful
short treks in Nepal that offer scenery from subtropical farmland to
snow covered glaciers. |
